WRITING BOARD & PROJECTOR SCREEN INSPECTION SERVICE

Every Year, Spaceright Europe Ltd inspects the boards in more than 6,000 schools, colleges and universities in England, Scotland and Wales.

Spaceright Europe rollerboards and writing boards will give you many years of trouble free use, provided you follow these few simple guidelines.

WHITEBOARD MAINTENANCE

USE GOOD PENS

Always use good quality dry marker pens with a soft tip, and allow the ink to dry before it is erased. Spaceright Europe recommend using ‘Unique’ dry marker pens.

CLEAN THE BOARD REGULARLY

Always erase writing with a dry marker eraser or a soft cloth which should be cleaned or replaced regularly to avoid build-up of pigment, as this will crystallise and form an abrasive surface which could damage the writing surface of your board. Do not leave written work on the board over a holiday or for more than one week.

BUILD-UP OF PIGMENT

Over a period of time, a build-up of pigment may cause a slight discolouration of the surface. This can be removed by using ‘Unique’ WHITE BOARD Cleaner, available in 250ml spray or 2.5 litre container, and then buffing with a dry cloth.

FOR OLDER BOARDS

For older or more heavily stained boards, use ‘Unique’ WHITEBOARD Conditioner, available in 250ml spray or 2.5 litre container. This will produce a silicone film on the surface, to facilitate subsequent cleaning. After application, the conditioner must be left for 24 hours, to dry completely. We recommend this is only used once or twice a year. This must NOT be used on boards with rulings.

PERMANENT MARKER DAMAGE

If a permanent marker has been used in error, DO NOT USE STRONG SOLVENTS or ABRASIVES. ‘Unique’ WHITE BOARD Conditioner, available in 250ml spray or 2.5 litre container, can be used to remove the pigment but must be left 24 hours to dry completely. CHALKBOARD MAINTENANCE

PRE-CHALK THE BOARD BEFORE USE

We recommend that you pre-chalk all new or renovated boards, before use. This can be done by using the side of a piece of chalk (non anti-dust if possible). Work plenty of chalk into the entire surface and then rub over the surface with a felt board eraser. We recommend Spaceright Europe Omyacolor Robercolour chalk for best results on your chalkboards.

CLEAN YOUR DUSTER

After a period of use, any felt eraser will become clogged with a build-up of chalk dust. Regular cleaning, either by beating out the excess dust, or by removing the dust using the nozzle of a vacuum cleaner can prevent this build-up. The frequency of cleaning depends on the amount of usage.

BRISTLE DUSTERS (Reduces dust and wont clog)

Spaceright Europe bristle duster – Skybrush, will greatly reduce the amount of dust on the chalk surface. However we recommend the cleaning be completed using a felt eraser.

ROLLERBOARD MAINTENANCE

WATER IS A NO NO

Water should never be used on Spaceright Europe rollerboard surfaces. For cleaning, we recommend ‘Unique’ Chalk Dust Control Fluid available in 1 or 5 litre containers. We recommend this is only used once or twice a year. Board should be pre-chalked after cleaning.

ROLLERBOARD BALANCE

When a rollerboard is likely to be inactive for any length of time, position the plastic section separators (finger grip) at the top of the roller to take the weight. This will prevent the cloth from stretching.
